XLCR Eagles encouraging performances on the 1st day of 2014 CHAMPS....The main story being the setting of a new Class 3 Boys 400m record of 48.72 secs by Christopher Taylor of Calabar.

Well Champs 2014 got underway this afternoon. The main story being the setting of a new Class 3 Boys 400m record of 48.72 secs by Christopher Taylor of Calabar.

The Excelsior Eagles gave a good account of themselves with most of our athletes who competed today moving forward to the finals or semi-finals of their respective events:
Class 1 Boys LJ - both Spence & Clennon are in the Final set for tomorrow.
Class 4 Girls 70m Hurdles - Nordia Jones has moved onto the semis
Class 2 Girls SP - Smith & Love are both in the final round tomorrow
Class 1 Girls HJ - Hanifa is in the final round set for Friday
Class 2 Girls LJ - Ave Anna is in the Final on Friday
Class 3 Girls 400m - Britanny is in the Semis on Friday
Class 2 Boys 400m - Achebe is in the Semis on Friday

A number of Eagles recorded personal bests today included some who did not advance, such as Abe-Gaye McTavish, who barely missed the Semis by one place.

The Eagles had an encouraging first day. Hopefully we can stay healthy and continue to keep the Green & Gold of Excelsior flying high.

Age Animo,
Shaks
