The Excelsior High School Athletics Programme got a big boost last evening, when Lady Eagles' team captain Shanice Love, won the Scotiabank sponsored, Howard Aris Scholarship, awarded to the Jamaican student-athlete with the top grade point average. The scholarship which was announced at the JAAA's annual Golden Cleats Awards ceremony is valued at J$250,000. (See attached pic of Shanice with her symbolic cheque).

Congratulations to Shanice on an award well deserved.

This national recognition by one of XLCR's finest, demonstrates not only the emphasis that the T&F programme places on the rounded individual, but also epitomizes the changes taking place at the school in general.

We at DASH Athletics and the school's Track and Field Programme are extremely proud of Shanice and her accomplishments as we are of all our student athletes. With 24 (16 girls and 8 boys) of our student athletes in Sixth Form we take pride in the leadership they are demonstrating within the squad as well as in the wider school population. The positive comments from the school's administration only serve to inspire us to greater achievements.

Once again congratulations to Shanice. Achievements such as this can only serve to inspire her teammates, particularly the younger ones to seek and attain excellence in all their pursuits.

Thanks to all who have supported this programme over the past 5 years. An accomplishment such as this makes the efforts all worthwhile.

Age Animo,
Shaks
