Excelsior High Eagles Perform Well at Queens/Grace Jackson Meet

Preparation of the Excelsior High Eagles T&F team for the Annual Boys & Girls Champs continues apace. With the Eagles seeking to qualify as many athletes for this year's competition, many were in action at the Queens/Grace Jackson T&F Meet held at The National Stadium last Saturday, where they turned in some creditable performances.

The Eagles had six podium finishes:

Shanice Love 1st Girls Under 17 Discus Throw- 43.05 metres (PB)
Ave Anna Venair 1st Class 2 Girls LJ - 5.68 metres
Shanieka Brown - 1st Class 3 Girls 800m - 2:25.34 secs
Hanifa Abdul-Quadir 2nd Women TJ Open - 11.25 metres
Ave Anna Venair 3rd Women TJ Open - 11.02 metres
Latifah Smith 3rd Girls Under 17 SHot Put - 11.89 metres 

Additionally we had a number of athletes in the top ten in their respective events:

Abigaye McTavish 10th Class 2 Girls 400m - 59.84 secs
Shannaykay Henry 8th - Class 1 Girls 200m - 26.12 secs
Nathan Brown - 7th Class 1 Boys 800m - 1:59.09 secs
Bryanna Thompson 6th Girls Under 17 Discus 
Rajay Mills 4th Men TJ Open 
Ayoka Campbell 5th Men TJ Open
Debarie Spence 6th Men TJ Open
Phillipe Barnett 8th Men TJ Open
Nayoka Clunis 6th Girls Under 20 Discus Throw
Nayoka Clunis 4th Girls Under 20 Shot Put
Shanice Love 5th Girls Under 20 Shot Put
Excelsior High 5th Women 4x400 Open 
Excelsior High Boys 7th Mens 4x400 Open

This Saturday the action moves to the Stadium East Track for the Youngster Goldsmith Classic.
