Excelsior Eagles Boys and Girls gave a very good account of themselves at CHAMPS.Boys placed 14th and the Girls 17th.

The ISSA Boys & Girls Athletics Championships are done and the Excelsior Eagles gave a very good account of themselves. The Boys placed 14th with 19 points. This from some 114 Boys teams. This is the first time in more than 15 years the Boys team is gaining this many points and placing this high. The girls meanwhile placed 17th with 12 points.

This is just one place higher than last year. 112 girls teams participated. While the placings could have been higher if not for injuries to key team members, it is useful to note that number of athletes who contributed to the points totals have increased, and with the majority of these athletes returning, all indications are that a broader base has been laid for the future development of the sport at Excelsior High.

Excelsior will be represented at The Penn Relays this year, where we expect to have a 4x400 relay team, a Boys Triple Jumper and a Girl Discus Thrower. The performance of these athletes this year suggests that they will be very competitive at Penns, so those of you in North America, please forward you contributions to Hewitt while you make your plans to be in Philly, if at all possible, to support your alma mater over the last weekend in April.
