The Boys Sprint Medley team of Jermadine Fowlin, Christoff Lewis, Tajae Brown and Kimani Russell placed 5th in a time of 3:48.34.
The teams will now turn their attention to the Central Hurdles and Relay Meet to be held at the GC Foster College in Angels, St Catherine.
There was a successful Media Launch of the Wesley Powell Invitational Track & Field Meet earlier today in the Excelsior School Auditorium. Special guests were, Hon. Julian Robinson, Minister of Sate & Member of Parliament for area; and Dr Warren Blake newly elected President of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association. Minister Robinson in his capacity as MP reminded those in attendance of the importance of sports in the development of the students as well as of the community. He also congratulated Excelsior for their contribution to the wider community. (See pics attached)
Dr Blake noted that this was his first official outing as the newly elected JAAA president and spoke of some of his plans for Jamaica Athletics, including an arrangement with Kenya Athletics to bring a middle distance coach to assist Jamaica in the development of this particular discipline. In return Jamaica will send a sprint coach to Kenya. He noted that we currently have arrangements where Jamaican coaches are involved in assisting sprinters in Korea and the middle East.
Several Associate Sponsors as well as media houses were in attendance. The meet commences at 9:00am this Saturday December 8. Due to the inclement weather we have been having, the scheduled ribbon cutting and re-dedication of the recently renovated played had to be postponed until during the opening ceremony of the meet, scheduled for 2:00pm Saturday. Special Honoree at the meet will be Excelsior Alumnus and Olympian, Neville Myton.

Excelsior Alumnus and former Wolmer's Boys School Head Track & Field Coach, David Riley, will be joining the XLCR High School T&F Programme........
Fellow Excelsorians & Friends,

Excelsior Alumnus and former Wolmer's Boys School Head Track & Field Coach, David Riley, will be joining the Excelsior High School T&F Programme beginning next school year. Coach Riley will have direct responsibility for the Boys Programme, while giving Technical Oversight to the overall programme.
As can be imagined, since his recent departure from Wolmers, he has been approached by several schools & institutions. However we have been in contact with him for well over a year, discussing the possibility of him returning to his "roots". It obviously did not materialize last season, but with his recent separation from Wolmers the issue once again arose, & he has indicated that, "There is a lot of potential at Excelsior and I think the challenge excites me".
Needless to say he brings a wealth of experience, contacts & expertise to the programme. Coach Riley is a IAAF Certified Level 2 Coach & has coached the Jamaica CARIFTA Team & was Head Coach at Wolmers when they won the 100th staging of Boys Champs.
This development means that we will need greater funding as the programme is expected to expand significantly, almost immediately. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to encourage all those who have made commitments to the programme, but have not yet fulfilled those promises to do so ASAP. To those who have been wavering in their decision to support the programme, now is the time for all good Excelsorians to come to the aid of their Alma Mater.
Age Animo,
Shaks
